the aluminum foil used for blister packaging is the sealing material sealed on the hard piece of medical plastic polyvinyl chloride (PVC), so it is called the capping material. It is made of electrolytic aluminum with purity of 99% by calendering. It has the advantages of tasteless, electrical conductivity, shading, moisture resistance, gas resistance and good taste retention. Because the aluminum foil has a highly dense metal crystal structure, it can completely block any gas, water vapor and light that makes the longitudinal axis of the sample coincide with the center line of the upper and lower clamps, so it can most effectively protect the packaged object. In modern packaging, almost all products requiring opaque and high barrier composite materials use aluminum foil as barrier layer. Therefore, it is widely used. However, the quality of domestic medicinal aluminum foil is far from that of imported products

(1) the number of pinholes in pharmaceutical aluminum foil is far from the requirements. Aluminum foil pinholes affect the barrier performance of aluminum foil. Therefore, for medicinal aluminum foil, the national standard requires that there should be no pinhole with a diameter greater than 0.3 mm and a diameter of 0.5 mm The number of 3mm pinholes shall not be more than 1/m2. At present, few domestic products can meet this standard

(2) the thickness of medicinal aluminum foil is uneven and the tensile strength is low. The thickness of aluminum foil is uneven, which is easy to cause that the coating amount of adhesive in the coating process is difficult to reach the standard coating amount, thus affecting the heat sealing strength of aluminum foil and PVC hard sheet. The low tensile strength leads to the foil breaking after the unwinding tension is applied in the actual processing, which is not conducive to the normal production. These problems should be paid attention to by the raw material manufacturers

As drugs are sensitive to moisture and light transmission, PVC hard sheets are required to have good barrier properties against moisture, light and odor. However, the PVC currently used is just not ideal in terms of moisture resistance. Therefore, the use of polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) or its composite materials should be advocated in the future. PVDC has better water vapor and oxygen barrier performance than PVC. In addition, the sealing performance, impact strength, tensile strength and other indicators of PVDC material can meet the special requirements of product packaging when the drug is formed by male mold, which is the development focus of drug packaging materials in the future.
